Bronze Medallion / Bronze Cross
Bronze Medallion
This Course offers an understanding of the 4 components of water rescue education: judgment, fitness, knowledge, and skill. Rescuers learn towns & carries and release methods. Students develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim.
Prerequisite: 13 years old.
First Aid / CPR B Outline
This course gives students critical knowledge and confidence to effectively manage an emergency, without panic or confusion. The focus is giving first aid for common injuries and basic skills to reduce shock. In addition, the students learn to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies that occur to adults, children (1-8 years old) and infants (under 1 year old).
Prerequisite: 13 years old.
Bronze Cross
Advanced lifesaving training, including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Students learn spinal injury and pulse0less victim rescues.
Prerequisite: Current Bronze Medallion.

Water Safety Instructor
The Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course (WSI) prepares students in the field of swim instruction. Candidates focus on strategies to introduce and develop fitness activities, water safety, and swimming skills in the Red Cross Preschool and Red Cross Swim Kids curriculum.
At Felix's Swim Schools, we offer two options for completion of this course:
OPTION 1:
Candidates will learn to recognize, demonstrate, and teach the Red Cross Preschool levels 1-8 as well as the Swim Kids levels 1-10. Candidates will be required to complete 20 hours of teaching experience (scheduled outside of in-class hours). They must also complete the WSI-Online program (14-20 hours) to be eligible for certification.
100% attendance is mandatory.
Prerequisite: 15 years old, Bronze Cross, and ability to perform Red Cross Swim Kids level 10 strokes and skills.
Dates: April 10 - June 12, 2016
Hours: 16-28
Fee: $810
OPTION 2:
This option splits the course into two parts:
WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR PART 1
The first of two stages required to become a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, focuses on learning to recognize and demonstrate the Red Cross Preschool levels 1-8 and Swim Kids levels 1-10. Candidates will be required to complete 10 hours of teaching experience (scheduled outside of in-class hours) and they must also complete the WSI-Online program (14-20 hours) prior to enrolling in the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Part 2.
100% attendance is mandatory.
Prerequisite: 15 years old, Bronze Cross, and ability to perform Red Cross Swim Kids Level 10 strokes and skills.
Dates: April 10 - May 8, 2016

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR PART 2
The second of two stages required to become a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, further develops instructional ability by focusing on developing the skills, strategies, and techniques learned in Part 1. Candidates will be required to complete 10 hours of teaching experience (scheduled outside of in-class hours).
100% attendance is mandatory
Prerequisite: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Part 1. WSI-Online program. 10 hours assistant instructing.
